Mothers Day Breakfast....YUM!!!

I can't believe I never posted about this! I woke up on Mothers' day to Tony whispering and laughing about what the kids were making me for breakfast! I, so proudly ate:
Cold toast & spinach salad with Poppy seed dressing!
We laughed hard about this one! But they were so proud of themselves how could I not eat it!

How did I ever live without this face?

I have never yet, had a kid who is being naughty or not, strike me as funny and cute NO MATTER WHAT HE IS DOING!!! We are in real trouble with this kid because we both seem to find him hilarious! He is going to get away with a lot growing up, good thing he is the baby so it is expected of him!! Love his little stinking face!

Daxton and his scooter are best buddies and I can't believe I have never blogged about it! He got it for his 2nd birthday and has been doing daredevil tricks on it ever since!

Washington DC

What a slacker I really, truly am!!! We have now been HOME from our amazing vacation to Washington D.C. for nearly a month, and I am just getting to it! In my defense, I did have at least 200 photo's to go through and edit, so sorry!

We had a great time taking Kenzie on her 8th birthday vacation. It was a special time for all of us and I am so glad that this is the age we decided to take each of the kids on their own vacation because she was a lot of fun. She was inquisitive, and excited, and so fun to watch as she tried to take it all in. The other thing that was my favorite, is that Washington DC is pretty much free! Who knew?!! We sure didn't! From the Smithsonian's, to the capital tour, to the White House tour, it was all free! The only museum we ended up paying for the whole trip was called the Newseum, and it was well worth the money, because it was our favorite.

This is us up bright and early eager for our plane ride! Okay I was scared to death, I hate flying! But Kenzie was so excited!

That is our plane behind Kenzie! At the time, we had no idea that we would end up spending 7 1/2 hours on that dang thing thanks to a starter in the right engine not working correctly!!! Oh Ya, I was freaking out when the announced that over the loud speaker!!!

Kenzie with my Uncle Jef's dog, Faith! They were good buddies by the end of the trip!

My Uncle Jef and I! Thanks again for letting us crash with you!

The changing of the guards at Arlington National Cemetary! The shear vastness of that place makes me ill! I can't even imagine knowing all of the stories behind all of those brave men and women!

After we took the LONG walk up and back to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The White House. I have to say, I think the White House tour was my least favorite thing! Ya, Kenzie can say she has been in the White House, but we really waited far longer to get in that dang house than we were even in it! And their security is ridiculous! I know it is for a reason, but thanks to this tour, and the "we have nowhere for you to store your bags or cameras", policy we do not have pictures of a lot of this day! Oh well!

Kenzie, Grandma and Tony in front of the Newseum. What an amazing place. It has history of all the things that have happened in the news, clear back to the 1400's. They have an amazing tribute to 911 that brought back some pretty awful feelings for me of that horrible day.

I have to say, Kenzie spent more time playing with dandelions than anything else on this trip!!
Someday, I am going to learn how to take amazing pictures of flowers! Until then, this will have to do. This a one of 1000's of flowers and plants at the National Botanical Gardens. Again, free! I didn't even know we had a National Botanical Garden with flowers and plants from every part of the world!!

Kenzie and Grandma D in front of the Capital after our Capital tour!

The ceiling in the Capital. What an amazing building!

All of us sitting in Rep. Rob Bishops office waiting to go on our tour! My Grandma really hooked us up with all the great tours!!!

Kenzie and Tony in front of Abe Lincoln! Wow! They have a lot of statues in that place!

On the Metro, we would have been lost without their amazing public transit system!

Kenzie and I waiting at the airport to go home! Thank goodness the flight home was far more uneventful! I don't think I could have taken anymore!
I am so glad we took this trip! I am still trying to convince Karlin that Hawaii is where she wants to go! Do you think it will work?!!

Mother's Day Slacker!!!!

I know this is a little late, but I have been a little busy! I was just cleaning out my junkie e-mail and came across this photo that the great Dion edited for me!!!! Thanks again!!! I cannot look at this picture without getting teary eyed! These little munchkins bring me such a broad spectrum of emotion!!! They make me laugh, make me cry, make my anxiety go through the roof, make me stay up countless nights worrying, make me mad, but most of all they are the closest thing for me, to the love of our Savior. I love them unconditional, with no exemptions, no matter what they do, how they behave, or what they say, just like He does.
I am so grateful for them, and all of the other mothers out there that influence my life. My own mother is my rock. She is the one that I look to for advice, for comfort-she is my best friend. I think it has been years since I have not at least talked to her once in a day. My friends are my examples. I have so many great examples of motherhood all around me on a daily basis, and I am grateful to have such amazing examples to look to for advice and to tell my frustrations to. I am also grateful for all of the amazing women and young women that I get to spend every Sunday with. The Spirit in our Young Women's room cannot be replaced. If I miss a week in there because we are out of town or something, I miss it tremendously. I feel so close to these women and to my Heavenly Father when I sit in that room each week.

Bound to happen!!!!

Yesterday, turned exciting at our house after school, if that is what you want to call it! I was startled by a blood curdling scream and some major blood by Karlin who apparently was trying to cut an orange open with a butter knife. Pretty sharp butter knife! I think I did pretty good at keeping us all rather calm for our first round with stitches. Thanks Dion, for being home and taking my other kidlets on the fly! THAT would have been a nightmare dealing with Karlin freaking out, not wanting to look at her hand, and her siblings asking way too many questions. All is well, 3 stitches later, she will be good as new in a week! We DID have a talk about ALL kinds of knifes, though!!!

Babysitting Night!

Since we only had 2 extra kids last Friday night for babysitting, we decided to take the kids to the splash pad/park over in Green Springs for a little bit. The kids had a blast, and I am guessing that our Summer is going to pretty much look like this! Splash pads are the greatest invention ever-your kids don't have to be supervised for drowning, and they still get nice and wet!

Small and simple moments

Today started off just like any other day-too many things to clean, too many errands to run, too many...too many....-you get the point! But when I dropped the girls off at the park today for their Preschool activity, Daxton was flaming mad that I was not getting him out of the car! Can't hardly blame the kid! So I promised him that if he would let me run to 3 more places that I would take him to the water park. Every place we went into, he would come out asking "Babo?"(Water). I would tell him in a minute, and he would be good through the next place. Finally after about an hour, I was done with my errands, and he got his wish! He was so excited when we pulled up to the splash pad. I really wasn't prepared, the only thing we DID have was sunscreen. Other than that, I just took off his shirt and he could air dry! Boys are nice that way, you really can just do things on a whim and they really don't require a lot of extras!

I am so glad I had this little moment with just him. I had no other kids to distract me, no other "Mommy's" or grown ups to talk to, so we just played. He got on one gun, I on the other. He laughed hysterically at trying to spray me with his water gun, and then he would get wet and climb up on my lap and wrap my arms around me so that I would be his "human towel". And I really didn't mind! It won't be long before he too, will not think I am his whole world! He too is going to figure out about friends, and girls, and all the other things that kids think they need to have way to young!

I hope when he grows up he will remember the little moments, like playing at the park, that gave him so much joy! And if he doesn't remember, hopefully I will so that I can tell him about it!
