Becoming her father!!!!

Today Karlin has done two things that are sooooo her dad, I had to write them down. This morning, I heard her at the breakfast table quoting The Princess Bride about marriage.....so her dad. Later this morning, she comes to me and says that she organized her closet to look like a rainbow! Though my closet now is color coated, it actually took me until I was 34 to see the benefits of keeping a neat and organized closet. Tony, on the other hand, has always had a nice and neatly organized color coated closet! I love that she likes to be organized and that she does it of her own free will and choice!

I Heart Faces | Let's Hear It For the Boys

I haven't entered a picture, until now! I look at I heart faces every week, but until now I didn't think I had a shot that fit their weekly contest. This picture totally fits, in my eyes! I still can't believe I really let him do this, but when I think of boys, THIS is what I think of! Smiles and mud!

Moving On

I never really thought about moving out of Coral Canyon. To be honest, I really never thought we would ever leave there! Why would we?!!! We loved the ward, the school, or neighbors and pretty much everything about our comfortable life we had going for ourselves. I guess that must be some of the reason it was time to move on. It has been more difficult on me, or I should say, I am still holding on more than the rest of the family!

We went back to our old ward for a baby blessing, this last Sunday, and it was just different. It was difficult to have to sit and watch somebody else conduct, and sit in my chair up front. It was difficult to look around Sacrament meeting and see faces I didn't recognize and not go and try and find out if they were new to the ward. It was difficult to be called a visitor and realize that after I left that room, I would not just drive around the corner home. I can't say that going to visit will be one of the things I will do much of. It is just too hard to go back knowing that my reality is not in Coral Canyon anymore.

I know I will move on, I have no choice. But it doesn't make it any easier. Our kids are adjusting just fine. They are thrilled that around every corner there is a friend to play with! When we visit the Coral Canyon ward, this last week, they all chose to go back to our Washington Field ward with Tony for Primary. I stayed! Tony got called into Young Men's the 2nd week we were in the ward. He was on cloud nine! He has been trying to get back there for the past two years! I never have been good at moving-my family moved when I was 7 and still live in the house I grew up in, so moving just isn't my thing. Tony and I have only lived in 4 other places, including apartments, our whole marriage. I think I prefer it that way. We plan on making only one more move after this, and them making it permanent. But as I have recently learned, sometimes what we have planned isn't what He has planned. So I guess we will see!

For now I am adjusting, slowly! I am so glad for the friendships I do still have from the old hood, it makes me feel like I still have a place there, even if I really don't have a home there anymore. Somebody made a comment to Tony the other day that they think I am more attached to Coral Canyon Elementary than my kids are, and I think they are right! I am not cutting my ties, completely, anytime soon!

Spring Soccer

Soccer has come and gone, and I think Kamren is glad it is gone! She wasn't a huge fan of soccer! In fact, as she left the field for the last time, she yelled to her dad," Make sure you don't sign me up for soccer next year"! Oh well! It was fun while it lasted! I enjoyed watching her grow and become a little more aggressive and watching her make friends and interact with her team mates! Tony was also fun to watch! He is so patient with all of them! I can't say I would be as good at that! Hopefully Daxton will want to play next time so we can still enjoy our Soccer Saturdays!

How much can you fit into ONE school day.......?

.....Well we found out today!!!

Our day started out with a 1st grade spelling bee....Kamren did so well! We were so nervous for her and she looked so stinkin' cute sitting up there! I loved how she looked up every time it was her turn. It was like she was reading the words off of the ceiling. In actuality, what she was doing was using her photographic memory to remember how the words looked on her practice sheets!
She made it to the final two. She missed the word T-W-I-C-E, putting the letter "R" in the "W's" place. We learned something new about Kam Kam today, that she thinks the "W" sound is made by an "R". :) They ended up going to the 15th round before a winner was named. They even had to pull out more words because they had such great spellers this year!

We were so proud of her! She could have gotten last place and we still would have been just as proud! She and Tony worked so hard for several days practicing. They were so cute every night practicing. He took an interest because he was in spelling bee's as a child. I was never a great speller so I wasn't much help!

Next, it was on to the 3rd grade talent show. Karlin chose to play the song "Little Playmates" on the piano. She did very well and we are so happy about how she is coming along in her piano learning skills.

Then came the 4th grade Utah program! Kenzie was so cute! She was singing to my video camera the whole time and I was making faces at her the whole time! I am so glad she is not embarrassed by my crazy faces and antics! She loves me even if I am crazy!

So happy she has such great friends too! I love that she loves everyone and doesn't care who you are, or what other people have "labeled" somebody as.....she is kind, and that makes me proud!

Neither of these two were happy about me taking this picture, but Brent is the first boy that ever asked her to be is "Valentine", so I had to have a picture. She only agreed to be his Valentine because I told her he was cute! :)
Daxton even made it through this marathon day at school. We went to the school when the kids did and left the school when they did too! I think we are both going to have to get used to spending so much time at the school next year! I am so grateful that Tony could make it to all of these things too! I take for granted that he makes his own schedule, but I am grateful!

Busy Saturday Fun!

The morning after I got back from PTA Convention, it was go, go, go! Tony had sign up for the Cotton Days parade so he could throw Dixie Direct books and t-shirts, so we were up and at 'um and out of the house by 8:15, oh what fun! The kids love doing the parade and I love it because then they don't get all the candy that I see all the other kids leaving with, they just get to throw it!

Right after that, we headed to the Hershey Track meet. Karlin was in the 4 X 100 meter relay. I think I was more excited about being there than she was. It brings back fond memories for me of my track days, but it was funny how I also remembered and felt the butterflies and upset stomach that were also with me all those years ago. I ended up having to go down on the in field and help her team, since nobody from our school was anywhere around. I think it is crazy that they just think these kids have any clue what they are supposed to be doing. Oh well! I gave them the low down on the "stick" and they did fine. They didn't win by any means, but at least they all stayed in there right lanes! I really hope that she loves running. I would love to be able to spend more time at the track again!

PTA Convention

I was lucky enough to sneak away for an overnighter with these cute ladies to the PTA convention in Provo! I have known Crystal for a little while, since she was in our Coral Canyon ward. She has agreed to be our Vice President, and with her spirit and mouth, she will do amazing at this job! I am also so glad Lisa is joining us. Though she is new to Utah and the school, she has a lot of amazing, huge ideas for next year and I am anxious to see what she plans! Though I am overwhelmed at the very thought of what being a PTA Co-President even means, I am excited at the same time! It is so fun to get to plan and carry out events for the kids and see how excited they get about you even paying attention to them or being in their school! You feel like a celebrity just for giving them a t-shirt and they all act like they know you just from seeing you a couple times! I love it! I can't wait to see what this next school year brings! I may be insane by the end of it, but I know it will be fun and worth it!
